The interactive folklore center “Raíces Chilenas” (Chilean Roots) is located just 6 kms from the well-known Concon traffic circle and at the foot of the Mauco Mountain, where according to legend, the Mapuche people would be safe from any natural disaster. The center aims to teach individuals about Chilean culture, its gastronomy and folklore traditions.
The center has a Medialuna (a crescent-shaped corral used in Chilean rodeos), an authentic Ruca Mapuche (Mapuche house), and a traditional Quincho Criollo (typical Chilean restaurant). It offers folklore music, both Creole and Mapuche, and alternative programs to choose from which may include traditional ceremonies, dances, songs, storytelling, rodeos, greyhound races, Chilean horse races, and palin games (Mapuche hockey).
This comprehensive program is the only one of its kind in Chile and can be made available with Portuguese and English translators. The programs can be determined and selected by you, and within our available spectrum of activities and cuisine. The program is aimed for groups of over 20. However, special visits can be arranged for those wishing to enjoy our center and will be attended to by a Huaso (Chilean cowboy) and a lonko (Mapuche chief).
